The Mousetrap Caught Many by Surprise

With the early sell-out of The Mousetrap during its run January 11-28 many callers to the Island Players Box Office were disappointed to learn there were no tickets available to this classic murder mystery by Agatha Christie. Those lucky season ticket holders and the early ticket buyers, enjoyed a delightful performance directed by Heiko Knipfelberg and acted with such expertise by Sylvia Marnie, Kristin Mazzitelli, Catherine Penta, Colin Brady, Dan Coppenger, Hugh Scanlon , Eric Johnson and Heiko Knipfelberg.

Jan VanWart’s set design created a realistic English manor house with a blazing fireplace and falling snow outside the windows. The multiple rooms leading off into the stage wings were as real to the imagination of the audience as if they were actually a part of the set.

It was crisp , fast moving and a combination of mystery and comedy” said Luanne Collins when interviewed by Robyn Murrell, Islander Reporter.

While Gail Rhine beamed as she shared her thoughts with Robyn on opening night. “I enjoyed it and the cast did a great job….it was fun.

The Island Players made history by selling out every performance of their latest production, Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap.” Jason Schaffer, Sun Correspondent.
